Limerick motorists warned of road closure to facilitate ‘major works’ by Irish Water

The inbound lane of the Dublin Road will be closed from 8pm this Wednesday

MOTORISTS are being warned the R445 Dublin Road will be closed to city bound traffic at the Parkway roundabout from 8pm this Wednesday, December 5 until 5am on Thursday.

City-bound traffic coming from Castletroy will be diverted via Childers Road (R509) and Ballysimon Road (R527) for the duration of the closure.

While the outbound lane will remain open, diversions may be be introduced if deemed necessary..

According to Limerick City and County Council, the roadworks are necessary to enable Irish Water service works. It’s not known if the works are connected to a bust main in the area last month.

The local authority says emergency service vehicle access will be redirected via Ballysimon road (R527) from 10pm this Wednesday for access to Castletroy.
