MOTORISTS who are braving the elements this Thursday evening are being warned of icy conditions on some roads across Limerick.

While there are no reports of significant incidents, AA Roadwatch says there are icy conditions on the N21 between Rathkeale and Newcastle West.

Conditions are said to be treacherous on some regional local roads.

Crews from Limerick City and Council were deployed this Thursday to grit priority routes across the city and county in an effort to keep all main routes passable.

Six snow ploughs remain on standby and are expected to be deployed early on Friday morning.

With the worst of the blizzard-like conditions expected to hit Limerick in the coming hours, gardai are appealing to all motorist to stay off the roads.
