A CITY centre electrical store will have a slightly different look this Friday as it becomes the drop-off point for entrants to a bread-making contest.
Keen cooks will descend on Jack Fitzgerald Electrical in Lower Shannon Street to leave their home-baked bread into the venue.
It’s all part of the annual National Brown Bread Baking Competition, which is this year being backed by Euronics, which counts the popular electrical outlet among its members.

Drop-off takes place between 9am and 11am this Friday, July 26.
The winner of the national contest will be announced during the National Ploughing Championships which will take place in Laois during September.
The prize for being Ireland’s top bread baker is a cheque for €5,000 and an oven.
A €500 gift card for Euronics will be given to each of the finalists.
Darragh Lynch, the chief executive of Euronics said: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring this iconic competition.”
All successful entrants to the competition will be contacted on Monday, August 12 to attend the final stages of the competition.
Two semi-finals will take place on September 17 and 18 with the final on the afternoon of September 19 at the National Ploughing Championships in County Laois.
Ploughing Championships managing director Anna May McHugh said: “The first National Brown Bread Baking competition took place at Ploughing in 1954 and it is wonderful to see that the competition is still as popular now as it was then.”
Mary D’Arcy, the incoming Irish Countrywomans Association national president added: “Our members always enjoy taking part in the National Brown Bread Baking competition to find the best Brown Bread in Ireland and I am sure this year will be no different!”
