Shannon Airport's passenger numbers have grown
SHANNON Airport has recorded an eight percent increase in passenger figures during the first six months of 2024, when compared to the same period last year.
The airport, boosted by the resumption of Delta’s daily service to New York-JFK and increased frequencies to nine of its European and British destinations during the summer season, recorded 974,012 passengers from January to June of this year.
Commenting on the increase in passenger traffic, Mary Considine, chief executive of Shannon Airport Group said: “We have had a busy first half of 2024 at Shannon Airport and we are pleased to see our passenger numbers increasing when compared to the same period last year.

“Shannon is operating to 33 destinations across Europe, the UK and the US this year and we are thrilled to be able to offer passengers increased summer frequencies to nine of our European destinations including the likes of Alicante, Faro, Lanzarote and Tenerife, to facilitate additional demand during the school holidays for those all-important family breaks.”
Shannon Airport recently retained its position as Ireland’s best airport brand according to the Red C Brand Reaction Index 2024.
Ms Considine added: "We are on track to reach the two million passenger mark by the end of the year and as we build towards this, we remain committed to delivering a world-class experience for our customers, who are travelling from every corner of the country to fly Shannon."
“Despite being in the height of the busy summer travel season, our passengers are still enjoying the famous seamless, hassle-free experience of using Shannon, where customers can get from the car park, through check-in and security in just a matter of minutes.
“On behalf of all the team at Shannon Airport, I would like to thank our passengers for their support and would encourage people to continue to think Shannon first.”
