Mayoral reception to honour Limerick hurlers

LIMERICK City and County Council has extended its heartfelt commiserations to the Limerick senior hurlers, John Kiely and his backroom team, following their valiant effort in the All-Ireland semi-final against Cork. 

The team displayed remarkable spirit and dedication throughout the match, and while the result was not in our favour, their performance has made us all proud, they said

Mayor John Moran expressed his deep appreciation for the team's hard work and dedication.

“Of course, we share the team’s disappointment but let’s not forget the immense joy we have shared thanks to their hard work and dedication over the years. 

"They have brought immense pride to Limerick, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment and sportsmanship. They will no doubt be back. The team’s achievements have been amazing and we will celebrate that with a mayoral reception for them all," said the mayor.

Director General of Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly also commended the team's efforts.

"The Limerick senior hurlers have given us countless moments of joy and pride. Their passion for the sport and determination to succeed are truly inspiring. While the outcome today was not what we hoped for, the spirit and tenacity shown by our players will always be remembered and celebrated.

"As we reflect on this season, we also extend our best wishes to our neighbours, Cork and Clare, as they prepare to compete in the All-Ireland final on July 21," said Mr Daly.

Mayor Moran concluded: "We wish Cork and Clare the very best in the final. It promises to be an exciting match, and we look forward to seeing great sportsmanship and competition from both teams."
