A MAN in his 60s has been killed following a two two-vehicle road traffic collision this Friday, February 2.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle, that occurred on the R515, Kilmallock.
The male driver of the motorcycle, 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick, a garda spokesperson confirmed.
The male driver of the car, 40s, received treatment at the scene for injuries believed at this time to be non-life-threatening.
The R515 road remains closed pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling on the R515, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, between 1.30pm and 2.15pm on Friday 2nd February 2024, are asked to make this footage available to gardaí,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station,” they added.
A spokesperson for Limerick City and County Council confirmed that a section of the R515 Charleville Road Kilmallock will be closed until Sunday between its junction with the L1536 ‘The Pike’ Effin on Charleville side and its junction with the L8573 ‘Pender’s Bend’ on the Kilmallock side. A traffic management operation will be place.
