Approximately 55kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1 million was seized
A MAN is being questioned by gardai following a significant drugs seizure in Limerick.
As part of an intelligence-led operation on Thursday, Revenue officers seized approximately 55kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1 million.
In a statement, a spokesperson confirmed the seizure was made as a result of a joint operation involving Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit.
A man in his 40s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained at a Garda Station in County Kerry under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
It's understood the exact location of the seizure has not been disclosed publicly for operational reasons.
Investigations are ongoing.
