Boxer Paddy Donovan suggests Limerick stadium for boxing event

SPORTS promoter Eddie Hearn has said he would like to see momentum moving forward for big boxing events in Limerick.

The Matchroom chairman has promoted many professional boxers in his career including more recently, Katie Taylor. Mr Hearn is currently trying to get Katie Taylor a fight in Croke Park following her recent 3 Arena win over Chantelle Cameron.

Speaking to Boxing Tickets NI, Mr Hearn said: “We’re not just talking about Dublin and Belfast but look at Paddy Donovan, whose to say he can’t headline in Limerick.

“Something down there, that’s the kind of thing that appeals to me. I’ve never been to Limerick, I’ve no idea what venues there are but imagine Paddy Donovan down there in a big fight in Limerick,” Mr Hearn added.

Seemingly intrigued by the idea, boxer Paddy Donovan suggested Thomond Park as the venue for his headline fight.

“Thomond Park anyone? How about we give Limerick city their greatest ever boxing event with all our professional fighters,” Mr Donovan said on social media.
