Savannah Calvert passed away following a road traffic collision in Limerick city
THE HEARTBROKEN Calvert family will gather on Tuesday in Limerick city to say a final farewell to their beautiful Savannah, aged 14, after a road traffic collision, and just months after they buried her mum Jacqueline.
The mother and daughter will be reunited in Mount St Oliver Cemetery following funeral Mass in St John's Cathedral at 11am.
Her remains will repose at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate this Monday from 2pm to 4pm.
The tightly-knit family from Fairview Crescent, Garryowen only buried Savannah's mum Jacqueline in December. Tragically, the Calverts have also said sad farewells to two of Savannah's sisters - Katie, 8, in 2014 and Sophie in 2011.
It is understood that Savannah was walking in the vicinity of Bank Place in the city on Wednesday night, at approximately 11.40pm when the collision occurred. Savannah was brought to University Hospital Limerick where she passed away.
There have been countless tributes paid to the daughter of Dermot and the late Jacqueline. Savannah's beloved sister Denika said they had the strongest bond ever, in a Facebook post.
“The closest to me you always were. I know you'll still be my shadow. ️If there was anything I could have done, I would have done it. It's something I'll never, ever get over,” wrote Denika, who added that she has memories that will last a lifetime, in the emotional post.
A large crowd of mourners gathered outside Denika's home on Friday to release red and white balloons in memory of Savannah.
“They are red and white because she loved Liverpool,” wrote Denika. The bereft sister said Savannah is “watching over us all”.
A photo of Savannah in her Reds jersey has been shared around Liverpool supporters’ social media pages to honour her.
In a moving post, brother Richard said Savannah is with Sophie, Katie and mammy now.
“I’ll always love you, my baby sister. I’ll never forget you, you were so innocent. I’m actually lost without you,” he wrote.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the incident.
