Gardai investigate petrol bomb attack on Limerick home

Bruff gardai are investigating the incident

A NUMBER of petrol bombs were thrown at a home in County Limerick in what has been described as a "sinister" attack.

Gardai have confirmed they are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a residence in Kilmallock on Wednesday evening, January 18.

"Investigations are ongoing at this time," said a garda spokesperson.

The area around the property was cordoned off to allow gardai to carry out a forensic examination.

No damage to the house was caused by the petrol bombs and no injuries were sustained during the attack which occurred around 9pm. It is not known if the house was occupied at the time.

Cllr PJ Carey said locals are "in shock".

"I've never heard of anything like this occurring in Kilmallock before. It's frightening," said Cllr Carey, who asked anybody with any information regarding the incident to contact gardai.

Another local said: "This is a very quiet, country area. It's very sinister to think people would plan and carry out such a thing."

Gardai have appealed for anybody who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Kilmallock area on Wednesday evening to contact Bruff garda station on 061 382940.

Limerick Live understand the incident in Kilmallock is completely unrelated to a petrol bomb attack and drive-by shooting on a house in Banogue in December.
