An example of modular housing that may be used to home Ukrainians
MODULAR homes for Ukrainian refugees are planned on council-owned lands in Kilmallock, Cllr PJ Carey revealed this Wednesday morning.
Cllr Carey posted on Facebook that the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has advised of a project they are proposing, with the OPW, for the erection of modular homes on land owned by Limerick City and County Council in Kilmallock.
"Site investigations will be carried out with a view to advancing the project, which will be located at the rear of Glenfield / Radharc na Cille estate," said the Kilmallock-based councillor.
Cllr Carey said he has been informed "the usual planning process will not apply as emergency planning legislation has been introduced".
Limerick Live has contacted the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth; Limerick City and County Council and the OPW regarding the project and, in particular, how many modular homes and the number of Ukrainans they plan to home.
