“IT WAS massive for us to beat Newcastle West but we won nothing in the semi-final, only the right to challenge for the championship title and we are fully looking forward to the battle against Fr Caseys.”

This was Adare senior football captain Eoghan Costelloe’s description of this Sunday’s Irish Wire Products county senior football final against the Abbeyfeale men.

It will be a new-look final with holders Newcastle West exiting the championship at the hands of Harry Gleeson’s men in this year’s semi-final.

Adare had come up short to rivals Newcastle West in the last three county finals making their semi-final victory even more special.

Speaking about beating the 2023 champions Adare captain Costelloe said: “It was amazing to get over the line and beat Newcastle West the last day. I think we put everything we had into that game and that’s what was needed to get a result on the day.

“We are all delighted to just be back in another county final with the chance of finally bringing home the silverware.” This will be Harry Gleeson’s squad's fourth county final in-a-row after coming up short to Newcastle West on the last three occasions.

Despite not getting over the line over the last number of years, ultra consistent Adare have continued to challenge for top honours in Limerick senior football as they battle for another shot at glory this Sunday.

The Adare team have grown impressively throughout the championship producing several top class displays when it mattered most.

Speaking about the development of the team throughout this year’s championship Costelloe said: “We have just been slowly building throughout the campaign. We have been lucky to have such a great coaching team that has pushed us at the right time during our training.

“It’s felt like there hasn’t been one exact moment where it has all clicked but we are thankful we have been able to produce the results when needed and get to the final.”

Sunday's Limerick senior football final between Adare and Fr Casey's throws in at 4pm at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.
