SUMMER has come early for a Limerick city school which has closed due to water damage sustained during the bad weather warnings earlier this week.
In a social media post, Mary Garvey, Chairperson of the Board of Management at Le Chéile National School, Roxboro, announced the school would remain closed for the rest of the term due to water damage in several upstairs classrooms.
This unexpected occurrence has necessitated the implementation of online learning for all classes through the SeeSaw application, a popular platform for remote education which came to prominence during Covid, until the end of term next Wednesday.
The post also stated that the breakfast and homework clubs would remain closed until further notice.
Due to the water damage, inspections were to be carried out this Monday and Tuesday.
The post added on behalf of the Board of Management, "we would like to apologise for the disruption to you and your families. However, these matters are beyond our control."
Earlier this week, Tesco at Roxboro Shopping Centre closed this Monday due to the heavy rain and thunder, but reopened the following day.
