OVER 20,000 people in Limerick are getting ready to come together and clean up the city and county as part of the biggest-ever one-day clean-up event.

The 10th anniversary of Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC10) is considered to be a milestone event by Limerick City and County Council, when over 23,000 volunteers will unite on Good Friday, April 18, to pick up litter.

With the Council saying TLC10 “promises to be the most impactful yet”, they are once again partnering with the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and Mr Binman for the biggest annual one-day clean-up in the country.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, says the initiative continues to achieve impressive results.

We are thrilled to once again play a pivotal role supporting this great community initiative,” he said.

“I commend the JP McManus Benevolent Fund, Council staff, Mr Binman and volunteers across the city and county for all they do to make this initiative a cornerstone of community pride and environmental stewardship in Limerick.

“TLC aligns perfectly with our vision for a more liveable and desirable Limerick as outlined in our More for Limerick Programme.

“But it is not just about April 18, I encourage everyone to participate and help make Limerick a cleaner, better place for all every day.”

TLC will also provide supplies for tea and coffee gatherings on the day at various locations throughout the city and county.

Last year, TLC9 saw an impressive 57 tonnes of litter collected by volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including schools, colleges, sports clubs, Munster Rugby, businesses, charities, nursing homes, and local celebrities.

Príomh Comhairleoir of Limerick  Council, Cllr Dan McSweeney said: “People of all ages wearing hi-vis vests and volunteering to pick up litter in towns and villages across Limerick is a welcome sight each Good Friday.

“TLC10 provides another fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together, meet new neighbours, and make a positive impact on our local environment.

“It teaches our young people to take pride in their community and I encourage everyone to register, participate and stay safe.”
