LIMERICK City and County Council has confirmed the fire and rescue service in the city and county has fuel reserves if the protests continue.
Following a query from Limerick Live, a council spokesperson said they are continuing to monitor and review its programme of operations in light of the current fuel supply issues.
“Limerick Fire and Rescue Service secured an alternative fuel supply, ensuring that services from stations across the county can continue uninterrupted in the coming days. Fuel‑saving measures are also being implemented,” said the spokesperson.
The service consists of seven fire stations, based in Mulgrave Street in Limerick City, Abbeyfeale, Cappamore, Foynes, Kilmallock, Newcastle West and Rathkeale.

Separately, it is understood that day-to-day council operations have not been affected by the fuel crisis.
Limerick Live believes that administration staff and non-frontline staff have the option of working from home on Monday if they have the capacity to do so.
There are growing concerns over panic buying of diesel and petrol, with numerous forecourts now out of fuel.
Talks to end fuel protests are continuing this Friday evening, though without organisers present.
