UL Bohemian RFC have announced their men's coaching team for the next season with the appointment of AIL winning coach and Limerick native Simon Malone.
The university amalgamated outfit based in Annacotty and the UL campus have appointed Simon Malone as head coach for the coming season with Olan Daly and Christy Neilan completing a vastly experienced and impressive senior coaching team.

After just failing short of the playoffs on the final weekend of the All-Ireland League last April the club is planning ahead to the next phase of its journey with a new management tea.

Simon Malone has experienced AIL 1A, Leinster Senior Cup and Bateman Cup success with Terenure RFC (2019-2023) as forwards coach and also held a similar role with Young Munsters RFC (2023-2024) having had a significant playing career in the All-Ireland League.

He also spent three years coaching with Glenstal Abbey Senior Cup (2013-2016).

"I am delighted to be appointed head coach of UL Bohs RFC and am very excited to build on all the great work of the coaches and management over the last year number of years. It is a great opportunity to join a very talented playing squad and help the club fulfil its potential," said Simon Malone.

Olan Daly a participation lead for Munster Rugby in East Munster will head into his 6th year with the Robins as backs/attack coach. Christy Neilan, former head coach and decorated player for UL Bohs remains on board as forwards coach for next season.

UL Bohs's director of rugby Andrew Lacey stated "As a club we are delighted to get a coach of Simons calibre with such experience and knowledge of the All-Ireland League. Already we are learning from Simon who is seeking to improve our consistency and competitiveness next year. We were focused on building on the progress of last year and ensuring that change was minimised in terms of players and coaching which can always be a challenge with a University team but also in a rugby hinterland like Limerick that incredibly now has eight AIL teams".

Lacey added that "the growth and development across all facets of the club is exciting to be part and we look forward to providing adult rugby for all our members and students which will be strengthened in the years to come from those emerging from our successful underage section and U21/University teams."

"The club are currently finalising their conditioning and performance coaches and hope to build on the universities knowledge and experience in this area together with Simon and Olan's expertise given their respective backgrounds."
