CASTLETROY College will be taking a trip ‘Back to the 80's’ in their upcoming school musical.
The production is full of “high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80's party scene, copious amounts of blue eyeshadow, twenty cans of hairspray, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written”.
Some of the hits featured include Footloose, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, resulting in a musical that will "delight and amuse audiences of any age".
The show promises to have audiences "dancing on the ceiling in the Castletroy College sports hall", and aims to be a "memorable and unforgettable experience for all involved, demonstrating the enduring appeal of classic 80's music and storytelling".
The talented cast is led by teacher Conor McGowan as the narrator (Corey Snr), and is under the expert guidance of director Jessica Bray, musical director Catherine Clohessy, producer Anita Cunneen and choreographer Alison Kearney.
Principal Brian O'Donoghue said: “I am excited and eagerly awaiting what promises to be a dazzling spectacle, featuring a talented cast of students who have been working tirelessly to bring us all right back to the 80's. The production will showcase stunning sets, elaborate costumes, and a powerful score with music we can all sing along to. Tickets are already selling fast so booking without delay is advised”.

Back To The 80's tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School as remembered through the eyes of now 30-something Corey Palmer.
17-year-old Corey is madly in love with his next-door neighbour, Tiffany Houston, one of the coolest girls in the school.
Unfortunately for Corey, Tiffany is too busy mooning over Michael Feldman, the hottest guy around. Michael and his friends are athletic and good-looking – the kind of guys that Corey and his two best friends dream of being.
However, while they may not be the coolest guys in school, they are still one up on Feargal McFerrin III, whose best friend is his computer, and who believes in the crazy notion that one day CDs will replace cassette tapes.
