A NEW Rotary Club has been launched in Limerick to create lasting change in communities.
In a bid to solve problems and share commitment and vision in Limerick, Rotary International formally granted a Charter to a new Club, Limerick North Munster Rotary Club this Tuesday.
A global network of 1.4 million problem-solvers, Rotary aims to see a world where people unite and take action to create last change – whether that is across the globe or in communities.
For more than 110 years, the members of Rotary have used their passion and energy to take action on sustainable projects. As solving problems take commitment and vision, they are always working to better the world.
Over 46,000 Rotary clubs around the world work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as support education, grow local economies and protect the environment.
Rotary’s multidisciplinary perspective wants to apply leadership and expertise to social issues, in order to find unique solutions.
As a global network striving to build a united world and create lasting change, Rotary values diversity and celebrates contributions from all people.
Speaking at the launch, Pat Kearney, President of Rotary Club of Limerick North Munster, commented: “We raise a lot of funds for deserving charities, and we help the local community in any way we can. It's also fellowship, and we come together maybe once a week for a lunch meeting where we enjoy each other's company, and we promote each other's business in any way we can.
“With 20 members, we hope to build on that, and we hope to interact with new members over the next 6 to 12 months. Anybody who's interested in Rotary, please contact us,” he concluded.
