Thousands of hurling fans left disappointed as Munster final tickets on public sale, sell out

THOUSANDS of Limerick fans have been left disappointed - and empty handed - after terrace tickets for the Munster hurling final sold out within 25 minutes this Thursday lunchtime.

And up to 100 of those fans had queued in person outside one Limerick city store to get their hands on a coveted ticket for the hurling showdown.

Such was the demand for tickets for the showdown, that it is understood that the online Ticketmaster system crashed before all tickets were snapped up.

Loyals Limerick and Clare hurling fans started queuing outside Centra on O’Connell Street in the city centre well before 12 noon when terrace tickets were officially to go on public sale in the store.

But by 12:25pm, Munster GAA had tweeted that “public allocation of terrace tickets for the 2023 Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final are now SOLD OUT! Remaining tickets are with the participating county boards.”

Reporter Faye Dorgan spoke to former inter-county senior hurler and Na Piarsiagh player Shane Dowling, and Operations Manager at Ryans' Centra Group, as he was at the Centra store this morning to meet fans. Owner of the Centra store, James Ryan, also spoke of concerns over ticket sales, which ultimately sold out and confirmed what James had feared.

While he was in the physical queue on O’Connell Street one man managed to secure a ticket via Ticketmaster online and left the queue outside Centra.

Only one lucky person has managed to secure a physical ticket from the shop while LimerickLive were present.

The Treatymen take on The Banner men at the 44,000 (approx) capacity TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, June 11 at 1:45pm.

All stand tickets and remaining terrace tickets will only be available to purchase via the clubs of Limerick and Clare.
