TV chef abseils off Limerick's Thomond Park for a worthy cause

LIMERICK chef Eoin Sheehan literally went above and beyond in his efforts to raise much-needed funds for the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Eoin, who is fast becoming one of Ireland’s most recognisable TV chefs, was one of more than 50 brave souls who abseiled off the side of Thomond Park as part of the fundraising initiative.

The founder of Country Munch, the meal prepping service, is an ambassador for the Jack and Jill Foundation which provides services and support to almost 20 families in Limerick.

The 26-year-old is passionate about his work and his commitment to the children's charity explaining: “I'm delighted to be asked to do it and I suppose the big thing for any organsation like this is just getting awareness out there, getting in front of people's faces and stuff like this is a huge help for that.

"And there's 19 families in Limerick, so the more we can do, especially in Limerick, being from Limerick at a really landmark place in Limerick, it's all kind of perfect. It's a nice little story to put together and there’s already tons of money being raised so far”.

Speaking ahead of the descent he said: “I didn't know what to expect. I didn't really think about it too much this morning” but upon landing back on solid ground added: “It was great, unreal”.

Thomond Park is the home of Munster Rugby, with a capacity of 26,500 and stands 18m above sea level.

The Jack and Jill Foundation provides in-home nursing and respite care to sick children up to the age of six. They also provide palliative care which is key to their work.
