NURSE Princy Thomas has bid farewell to St John's Hospital in Limerick after twenty years of service.
The popular healthcare worker is moving to Australia after calling Limerick home for over two decades.
The mother always felt she was called to her profession which eventually brought her from the wards of India to the leafy suburbs of Castletroy.
“That was a divine call for me, when I started nursing I thought this isn’t for me then second year onwards I really plugged into my passion and it was my passion to come to Ireland, one of my friends was here, I didn’t want to go back to India, I’m very well settled here in Limerick and in St John's, I raised my family in St John's,” she told the Limerick Leader/Limerick Live.

After devoting so many years to her profession in the Treaty County she is set for a warmer climate in the Southern Hemisphere, something she has yearned to do for some time.
“I was looking to go at one stage and then came to know about the age limit, if I don’t go this year, I’ll never go.” she added.
On a mild day in Limerick city, as the storm passed and the wind dwindled to a breeze, Princy was joined by her colleagues for a send off of afternoon tea and she was showered with gifts.
Described as “wonderful and kind” by her fellow nurses, Princy will begin a new life with her family in the coming weeks at the home of Koalas, Vegemite and Home & Away.
The ever popular nurse, who says she has a job for when she returns, will miss the place she now calls home.
“It’s very hard to say goodbye to St Johns and Ireland, this is my country, I have been to so many European countries but I have to say Ireland is the best country to raise your family
“Limerick is my hometown, I know each and every street, such a comfortable place. You know, this is my family. Limerick is my family. I know most of the community as well. Irish, our community and the hospital,” she concluded.
