Mixed results for Limerick teams in Munster Senior Cup

There was quarter-final action in the Munster Senior Challenge Cup last weekend
THE TWO Limerick sides remaining in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup are on opposite sides of the draw as only four teams remain in the famous competition.
On a dramatic weekend of action, Limerick’s only Division 1A side in the All-Ireland League were beaten by local rivals while defending champions Highfield also bowed out of the competition.
Young Munster will turn their attention to league action after losing to Division 2A side UL Bohemian. Bohs reached the last four with a 29-22 victory, Greg Fitzgerald, Ola Ogunkoya, Darren Ferrar and Liam O’Shaughnessy scoring their tries. Cian Casey kicked three conversions and a penalty for the winners.
Liam McMahon, Josh Costello and Gearóid Mulcahy replied with tries for Young Munster.
The reward for the only Division 2 side left in the competition is another Division 1A opponent as they travel Leeside to take on Cork Con.
Con were 35-29 winners over Shannon in their quarter-final. Trailing 35-8, the Limerick side nearly staged a comeback – David Smith, Harry Long and Ryan Duffy scored tries to no avail.
Garryowen will host Nenagh Ormond in the other semi-final. The Light Blues were the only side to win by a double-digit margin, beating another Tipp side Clonmel 26-15.
Fionn Rowsome, Dean Fanning, Bryan Fitzgerald and Damien O’Connell touched down for the Limerick side. Alex Wood kicked three conversions. Nenagh were 33-26 winners over defending champions Highfield.
Both semi-finals take place on Saturday with 2.30pm kick-offs.
