Heavy defeat for JTB Hospital in Dr Harty Cup opener

John The Baptist were second best in their Dr Harty Cup round 1 tie
IT WAS a heavy defeat for John the Baptist Community School, Hospital in their Dr Harty Cup opener, losing 2-22 0-12 points against Christian Brothers College, Cork on Thursday afternoon in Castlelyons.
In truth, this game was over as a contest long before two second-half goals gave the Cork school a large margin of victory.
And it doesn't get any easier for Michael Martin's JTB, as they face a difficult round two clash against St Flannan's College, Ennis, early next month.
The post-mortem will be a difficult one for the South Limerick school as their Cork opponents bettered them in all facets of the game, winning dirty ball as well as clean possession into that dangerous forward line.
Despite Sam Mitchell opening the scoring after just 12 seconds, Hospital struggled in the first quarter.
By the time the All-Ireland minor winner got his team's second, CBC added had seven points on the board.
By the interval, CBC were 10 points clear and in control, taking a 0-14 to 0-4 lead into the change of ends.
Highly rated Sars youngster Tom Huggins was the standout performer scoring four from play in the first quarter to set the stall out for his side.
The accuracy of Christian Higgins was the second half highlight for the Limerick school but the result was settled long before Ben Hegarty and Jack Norton struck goals for CBC.
