Fresh injury blow for luckless Limerick footballer

The Treaty goalkeeper was an integral part of Jimmy Lee’s side who reached the Tailteann Cup final in Croke Park in 2024

LIMERICK footballer Josh Ryan has suffered a set-back in his injury recovery after picking up another ACL injury.
Ryan had only returned to light training after suffering the injury which saw him miss the 2026 season for club and county.
The Treaty goalkeeper was an integral part of Jimmy Lee’s side who reached the Tailteann Cup final in Croke Park in 2024 but hasn’t featured at inter-county level since.
It’s another injury for the luckless Ryan who earlier in his career broke his leg in three places playing hurling for Doon.
Over the last few years, Ryan has been the top scorer in the Irish Wire Products Senior Football Championship lining out with Oola.
He has been patrolling the sidelines with his club this season but was absent from Thursday night’s defeat to Fr Casey’s.
The injury means another prolonged spell on the sidelines for Garda.
It comes at a time of uncertainty in Limerick football. While manager Jimmy Lee has confirmed to the Limerick Leader that he wants to remain in charge, a committee has been set up to propose a manager for the 2027 season.
There is frustration in Limerick football circles that the management picture is unclear as the group stage of the SFC concludes on Friday night.
