The fundraising event that will be hosted by Ciarán Carey takes place in the Treehouse at the Woodlands Hotel on November 19

LIMERICK hurling star Kyle Hayes has been confirmed as one of the speakers at a mental health and addiction talk in aid of the Children’s Grief Centre in Limerick.

Hayes will be part of a stellar panel that will also include Limerick captain Cian Lynch, Munster and Irish rugby legend Keith Earls and Olive Foley, wife of the late Anthony Foley.

The event will be hosted by Ciarán Carey’s Counselling Services with comedian Aidan Tierney and musicians Madra Rua providing the entertainment. Hayes was delighted to get involved.

“Such a great cause, sharing a room with such legends as Olive and Ciarán,” Kyle told Treaty Talk at the launch of the event this week.

“It's brilliant, I look forward to that as well, it'll be something different. I actually didn't know too much about it until Ciarán actually told me about it.

“I've learned a bit over the last month or so about it but the work I've heard it on is unbelievable.

“I think it's such an important charity that could help so many families around the place and it's important that there's awareness raised for it as well.”

Kyle was also part of the Limerick Legends side that played their Munster Rugby counterparts in a Ryder Cup style golf event at Ballyneety Golf Club last August in aid of Milford Hospice.

Limerick came out on top on the day but Hayes says that his role was very much a minor one on the day.

“I don't actually play golf that much at all,” he admitted. I actually had to get golf clubs off Ciarán's brother Pat on the evening of it so I was a bit rusty now, but Barry Nash helped me along the way throughout the day.

“That was brilliant as well, and obviously we all know how much Milford means to Limerick (1:43) and the surrounding areas as well, so it was unbelievable to raise so much money for them.”

Before the big night at the Treehouse on November 19, Hayes has a Limerick Senior Football final to look forward to with his Kildimo-Pallaskenry teammates.

They play Abbeyfeale’s Fr Casey’s in the decider on November 1 and he has enjoyed the role in helping the city division club reach the marquee final.

“I hadn't actually planned on playing this year but they reeled me back in there a few weeks ago, so I'm glad now I'm back.

“It's been a great journey to be fair, the club has put in a lot of hard work over the last few years and I think it's just rewarding now that we're in a final so it's something to look forward to now for the next 10 days or so.”

Tickets for the event, which is called ‘An Evening of Restoring Hope’ can be purchased here.
