The New Beginnings exhibition runs at the public library in Dooradoyle until January
AS part of a new art exhibition, a full size reindeer will take over a Limerick library – just in time for Christmas.
The HSE disability service in Dooradoyle will present New Beginnings, a collaboration between their art and woodwork classes, which is back after a two-year hiatus. The exhibition places at the public library in Dooradoyle.
“We run art classes and different sort of craft classes. We worked together to put this whole thing together and the library came back to me as they've just re recently reopened their exhibition space,” said instructor Tarah Scott who teaches arts classes in the HSE adult disability service.
Tarah added: “It’s the first time the lads would have exhibited their work because of Covid, so they’re very excited about it. It’s an opportunity for the service users here to showcase their talent.”
Her role is to facilitate their classes for the service users. “We do painting prints, some 3D stuff, we also have a full size reindeer as part of the exhibition. We also do ceramics, and so we cover quite a wide variety of mediums.”
Speaking of the exhibition, she said they picked the title to mark starting over after a two-year hiatus.
“I gave people the theme, and they painted whatever they wanted from that, so the exposition is very diverse. People can come along and meet some of the artists.”
New Beginnings, which was officially this Thursday lunchtime, runs until January.
