THE Goverment has appointed the former CEO of Limerick-based Troy Studios as the new Chairperson of the Board of RTÉ.
Siún Ní Raghallaigh, who was involved with Troy Studios when it was first established, is also a former chairperson of TG4 and has considerable experience in the media sector in Ireland.
Deputy Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, obtained Government approval, this Tuesday, for the appointment of Ms Ní Raghallaigh to the role at the national broadcaster.
Siún Ni Raghallaigh has gained recognition as a leader in the creative sector.
She was CEO of both Ardmore Studios and Troy Studios until 2020 having previously worked as Managing Director with Tyrone Productions and as Head of Finance with Tribune Newspaper Group.
She also previously founded her own independent television company Ikandi Productions.
Commenting on the appointment and that of Aideen Howard as a member of the RTÉ board, Minister Martin said: "RTÉ is at the centre of Irish life – informing, educating and entertaining the public – and these appointments come at a time of opportunity and change in the Irish media and broadcasting landscape. Siún Ní Raghallaigh and Aideen Howard bring wide-ranging knowledge and experience which will be central to the evolving strategic direction of RTÉ. I wish both well during their terms and thank them for taking on these important roles."
The appointments follow a public call for applications and an assessment process managed by the Public Appointments Service.
