THE COUNTDOWN is on to the staging of the hit musical We Will Rock You by Coláiste Iósaef students in Kilmallock.

The musical, which features some of Queen’s greatest hits, boasts a futurist adventure set in a time when live music is banned on earth, but kids are in rebellion, fighting against the all-powerful Globalsoft Corporation which controls their lives and feeds them a diet of synthesised pop through the Internet. A hero is needed who can help them discover themselves – and live music.

School principal, Seán Twomey commented: “Well we’re taking a big step for us moving in to what is a fantastic venue in The Lime Tree and one of the reasons is to allow our students to showcase their talents on a grand scale. Our hope is parents, students and past students will come out to support us as it promises to be a fantastic family night out. We are blessed with a very talented group of Transition Year students and I think they will light up the stage.’

The musical contains a number of well known Queen hits including Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, and of course the big crowd pleaser and opening number Radio Ga Ga.

The musical runs in the Lime Tree Theatre for two nights on Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11.Tickets are priced at €12 or €10 for students and can be purchased direct from the Lime Tree Theatre Box Office (061-774774) or on with a select amount available directly from Coláiste Iósaef.
