Limerick city in the green for St Patrick's Day 2025!

Paralympian medalist Róisín Ní Ríain will lead the city's St Patrick’s Day parade at 12 noon on Monday

THE CITY is to turn several shades of green this weekend, with no less than 20 events taking place to mark St Patrick’s Day.

There is street theatre, concerts and parties across Limerick this Bank Holiday weekend, as Ireland’s national holiday is marked in the best way possible.

The highlight of the celebrations in the city will be a double header of parades - the International Band Championship on Sunday, March 16 from noon, and the main St Patrick’s Day parade 24 hours later.

Paralympic medallist, swimmer Róisín Ní Ríain from Drombanna, is set to make a splash as she leads out the city’s annual St Patrick’s Day parade.

This year’s spectacle promises tonnes of family fun as Jazzville Productions bring their ‘Most Dangerous Animal’ performance to life.

There will be other popular acts including the aerial dance troupe Fidget Feet, and the Polish Arts Festival.

Meanwhile, hundreds of local participants will also take part in the spectacle.

It’s the 53rd International Band Championship - an event unique to Limerick, giving the city two parades.

Expect a thunderous display of toe-tapping music and troupes of talented homegrown and international marching band musicians, all of whom will be competing for a perpetual trophy.

There’s so much more free family fun in Limerick across the weekend.

On Saturday at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, Cruises Street will play host to ‘A Snail’s Tale', a piece of street theatre telling an unforgettable, entertaining and sometimes surreal story of imaginary creatures once only found in monkish doodles.

After Monday’s parade, outside Merchant’s Quay, a family-friendly post-parade block party will take place.
