Limerick motorists warned of road closures as council crews work to repair damage

MOTORISTS are being advised to exercise caution as several roads remain closed as a result of the bad weather over the weekend.

In addition to roads which have been closed to traffic, motorists are also being warned about large potholes which have been reported on many local and regional roads.

A number of cars had to be pulled from the Rosbrien Road this Monday morning while surface water has been reported at several other locations across the county.

Limerick City and County Council says the LS5122/ LS5104/ LS5101  Killonan/ Scairt/ Sandylane from Twopothouse to Boher church remains closed to due to rising floodwaters on the River Mulkear.

Motorists are being advised to use the N24 instead.

The local authority says crews have also been deployed to repair a large number of potholes which resulted in a number of cars being damaged last night and early this morning

One of the worst potholes was located near McCarthy’s garage on the Limerick side of Dromobanna.

Several motorists took to social media last night to highlight the danger after a number of cars were damaged after hitting the pothole.

“Absolutely Massive pot hole on the left side of the road at McCarthys Garage in Drombanna , cars swerving everywhere and 5 cars pulled in here at the moment all with burst tyres including us, please drive safely,” read one post on a social media forum.
