MIST and fog will clearing this morning, paving the way for sunny spells in Limerick. However, cloud will increase through the day with light rain and drizzle developing later in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees with light to moderate southwest winds.

NATIONAL OUTLOOK

Much cooler than recently with a mix of sunshine and showers or longer spells of rain.

Any rain and drizzle will clear eastwards early on Saturday night leaving variable cloud and clear spells. Scattered showers will spread from the Atlantic overnight, affecting mainly western counties. Lowest temperatures of two to seven degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes.

Scattered showers in the west will spread eastwards over the country tomorrow morning with sunny spells in between. There'll be a continued mix of sunshine and showers for the rest of the day. Some of the showers could turn heavy with hail and the chance of the odd rumble of thunder. It'll be a noticeably cooler day with highest temperatures of just nine to 12 degrees in mostly moderate southwest to west winds, increasing fresh and gusty at times, especially in western and southern coastal parts.

There'll be a mix of cloud and clear spells tomorrow night, with showers becoming isolated and largely confined to western and southern coasts. Lowest temperatures of one to six degrees with winds decreasing light to moderate southerly, a little fresher by the west coast.

Monday will start out dry with sunshine for many, but scattered showers near Atlantic coasts will become fairly widespread by the afternoon. Again, some of the showers could be heavy and of hail with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures nine to 12 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh and gusty southwest winds, which will ease mostly light later.

It'll become mostly dry on Monday night with clear spells as showers become isolated and mainly confined to western coastal parts. Lowest temperatures of zero to five degrees with a touch of frost.

Tuesday will be another day of sunshine and showers, some heavy and possibly of hail and a few possibly thundery. It's likely to be a cloudier day overall in eastern parts with the chance of some more persistent rain. Highest temperatures of nine to 12 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

There's the chance of some persistent rain for a time in eastern parts, otherwise Tuesday night will bring clear spells and a few scattered, mainly to western coastal parts. Lowest temperatures of one to five degrees, with a touch of frost possible in mostly light westerly breezes.

Wednesday will see a continuation of the mix of sunshine and showers. Once again, some of the showers will be heavy, with the chance of hail and a few thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in mostly moderate westerly winds.

Ireland's weather will be unsettled for the rest of the week and into the start of the Easter weekend too, with low pressure in charge bringing further showers or indeed longer spells of rain at times. It's likely to become rather blustery too for a time on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. It may become a little milder later in the week.
