A weather forecaster has predicted some belated good weather for Ireland next weekend.

After a dreadful summer of heavy rain and mixed weather, Ireland might finally enjoy sunshine, according to Carlow Weather forecaster Alan O'Reilly.

Posting weather charts, he said "Next weekend looking good a present".

"Come on, we deserve this," he added.

The forecast is a welcome one, even if longer range forecasts can be precarious.

Met Éireann has forecast some heavy rain and even thunderstorms for Monday, before the much hoped for good weather at the weekend.

Many will hope that the charts prove correct and we can all enjoy some better weather next weekend.
