Cold snap to continue into the weekend as Met Éireann extends weather advisory for Limerick

A cold weather advisory for Ireland has been extended by Met Éireann

THE current cold snap which has seen temperatures drop well below zero across Limerick is set to continue into the weekend, Met Éireann has confirmed.

The forecaster, which has extended its cold weather advisory for Ireland, says it will stay cold from the rest of the week with widespread frost and icy patches, leading to hazardous travelling conditions in places.

The advisory, which was initially issued over the weekend, had been due to expire on Friday night. However, in an update issued this Tuesday, it has not been extended to 9am on Saturday.

According to the latest Met Éireann forecast, daytime temperatures will be slightly higher on Saturday and Sunday. However, temperatures on both nights over the weekend are likely to fall below freezing with some patchy frost and ice.

Limerick City and County Council says crews will be deployed to treat primary routes across the city and county where appropriate.
