Met Éireann is warning that temperatures will plummet later this week
MET Éireann has issued a weather warning for Limerick and most of the country as temperatures are set to plummet in the coming days.
The forecaster says it will be very cold on Thursday night with temperatures likely to fall well below zero in places.
The status yellow low temperature & ice warning, which was issued this Wednesday lunchtime, will come into effect in 23 counties from 6pm on Thursday.
"Very cold with temperatures expected to fall below -3 degrees in many areas. Frost and ice developing will cause hazardous travelling conditions," states the warning will will remain in place until 12 midday on Friday.

In addition to Limerick and Clare, the weather warning applies to Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and all of Connacht.
Local authority crews in Limerick and across the country have been placed on standby ahead of the warning taking effect.
