'Very frustrating' update in recovery of Limerick boxer Lee Reeves

A FRIEND of Limerick boxer Lee Reeves has shared an update in his recovery and rehabilitation.
The much-loved 31-year-old has been in hospital since he was knocked out in a fight in the 3Arena, Dublin, on Saturday, August 1.
Former boxer Jonathan O’Brien, who is a good friend of Lee’s and the Reeves’ family, shared an update in a post on social media this Monday morning, September 14.
He told his followers that the operation that Lee was scheduled to have on Friday did not go ahead.
Jonathan added that the family were “very, very frustrated,” as this was not the first time this operation had been postponed.
Previously, this had been due to Lee getting infections and high temperatures.
“This time they said that it was an emergency come in and they had to do somebody else. The spot was took and they couldn’t do Lee, which is frustrating for the family. Very, very frustrating,” Jonathan explained.
He continued: “We just hope that Beaumont can get it done today or early this week and we’re not waiting another week and then Lee gets another infection, which is not good for anybody.”
“The family just want to get him right, get this plate put back in his head,” he added, explaining that Lee not having it “stops him going forward”.
“He needs this plate put in.”
Jonathan praised a fundraising effort made by a young girl, Ella, who is doing 5K a day for a full month to raise money for Lee.
He expressed disappointment that some well-known boxers had not been “getting involved” with fundraising and sharing the message, adding that Lee “helped a lot of people”.
“It’s a difficult situation for Lee and the family, just keep praying for them and keep that GoFundMe going. It’s much appreciated,” he finished.
