A CHILLING Netflix documentary about the 2015 killing of Limerick man and father-of-two Jason Corbett has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

'A Deadly American Marriage' was nominated for a ‘47th News & Documentary Emmy Award’ in the category ‘Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary’.

Sharing the news on social media, Jason's daughter Sarah Corbett Lynch who published her memoir A Time for Truth last year, commented:

“I am and forever will be proud to be Jason Corbett’s daughter.”

The documentary, which is one hour and 42 minutes long, was in production for over four years and features exclusive interviews with Mr Corbett's children Jack and Sarah along with Molly and Tom Martens and US law enforcement agents and court officials.

On August 2, 2015, Jason was killed in a violent altercation at home. Mr Corbett, was killed by his wife Molly Martens, and her father, Tom Martens, a former FBI agent, at his home in Lexington, North Carolina.

In a statement from Jason’s Journey, a group dedicated to remembering the late Limerick man, they said this nomination is a "meaningful recognition" of the importance of telling Jason's story with honesty, dignity and care.

"It reflects not only the power of documentary storytelling, but also the importance of continuing to raise awareness around truth, justice, loss and the lifelong impact of violence on families.

"For all those who have supported Jason’s story over the years, and for everyone who has stood with Jack, Sarah and Jason’s family in the pursuit of truth, this moment carries deep meaning.

"We extend our sincere thanks to all those who have supported, and continue to support, the pursuit of truth and justice, and to the filmmakers and all involved in bringing this documentary to an international audience."
