Treaty United host Cobh Ramblers in crunch First Division clash

TREATY United return to action in the SSE Airtricity League First Division this Thursday evening when hosting Cobh Ramblers in a crucial Munster derby clash.

The game at the Markets Field has a 7.45pm kick-off.

Treaty United have been boosted by the signing of former Limerick FC midfielder Lee J Lynch, who joins from Irish League side Coleraine, ahead of Thursday night's game.

Treaty United had been hoping to make it three league games unbeaten for the second time this year when they travelled to the Midlands to take on Athlone Town on Friday night last.

The first game back after the mid-season break ended in a 1-0 victory for the Midlanders. Athlone took a deserved lead in the 34th minute through Dean Ebbe.

Shamrock Rover’s loanee Gideon Tetteh delivered a perfectly-weighted lofted pass over the Treaty defence and Ebbe flicked the ball past the onrushing Corey Chambers.

Having endured a disappointing 14-game winless streak, the Shannonsiders had begun to build momentum before the break winning three of their last four prior to Friday night's defeat to the Midlanders.

Treaty sit in eighth-placed in the First Division table, seven points off the promotion play-off places, the final one of which is occupied by Finn Harps.

Thursday night's visitors to Garryowen, Cobh Ramblers, sit one spot and two points above Tommy Barrett's Treaty United side in the First Division table.
