Derry City Manager Kenny Shiels
Derry City boss Kenny Shiels watched his side secure a 3-0 SSE Airtricity League win last night at the Markets Field over Limerick FC, however he did not leave Limerick a happy man.
"The pitch was absolutely abysmal," he told the Derry Journal.
"Teams are going to come here and get beat - it's a football deterrent. I thought I was playing in the Irish League again. It was bumpy and so bad. It's like going back in time. It's none of my business but it becomes my business when I take my team to play here. It took away from both team's performances."
The pitch at the municipal stadium has come in for criticism this season, following a number of rugby matches which were played on the surface this season.
There also seems to be some confusion over who is in charge of the maintenance of the pitch, with neither Limerick FC or the LEDP willing to comment, on the record, where the sole responsibility lies for the surface.
