Munster boost with Saili set to return over festive period

MUNSTER centre Francis Saili is set to return to action in one of the Pro12 interprovincial derbies against Leinster or Connacht over the festive period.

All-Black Saili who missed the opening months of the season with a shoulder injury, will return to full training this week with Munster.

Ahead of Saturday’s Champions Cup clash with Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park on Saturday, 3.15pm, Munster Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus indicated New Zealander Saili will be ready for a return to action over the festive period.

Munster host Leinster at Thomond Park on St Stephen’s Day, before a trip to Galway to take on Connacht on New Year’s Eve at the Sportsground.

Erasmus reported no major injury concerns following Friday night’s Pro12 win over Glasgow.

Peter O'Mahony did report a back spasm after his involvement at Scotstoun on Friday and did not train on Monday,  but will be in line for selection this weekend.

Centre Jaco Taute and scrum-half Duncan Williams picked up respective bangs to the ribs and shoulder but are also expected to be passed fit for this weekend.

Erasmus also confirmed that Tyler Bleyendaal will be available for selection, as will all of the province's recently returned internationals.

Cian Bohane has also made excellent progress with a foot injury and will take a full part in training this week.
