Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s 23rd league goal of the season paved the way for Rochdale to regain top spot in the National League with a 3-1 win at Eastleigh.
The striker, who has now scored 11 in 11, slid in to convert Aidan Barlow’s 16th-minute low cross after a flowing move down the right after Dale had briefly been overtaken by York’s win earlier in the day.
At the other end of the scale Casey Pettit fired home his first for the club in the 61st minute off the underside of the crossbar.
Captain Ethan Ebanks-Landell headed home Pettit’s free-kick, also off the crossbar, to render Jake Tabor’s late goal from Josh Lundstram’s low cross a consolation as Eastleigh slipped to their ninth defeat in 14 matches.
