Hibernian boss David Gray admitted the dramatic 3-3 William Hill Premiership draw with Dundee at Dens Park felt like a defeat.
The Edinburgh side were leading 3-2 in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Dark Blues winger Cam Congreve produced a superb equaliser.
Dundee had earlier netted twice through Simon Murray and Luke Graham with Owen Elding, Ante Suto and Jamie McGrath scoring for Hibs.
Gray lamented that his side had only taken a point despite hitting the back of the net three times.
He said: “It’s real mixed emotions to be honest for me. I think it feels, because you lose a goal in the last second, like a defeat.
“I think that’s natural because it is the last kick of the game.
“Take nothing away from the strike that got Dundee the point, I thought it was a fantastic hit, I was right behind it, I knew as soon as he hit it, it was going in.
“But I think the story of the day for us is the fact we’ve come to a really difficult place and we’ve had to score three goals to get a point because that’s where we’ve let ourselves down, the defensive side of it.
“You can always affect it. I’m not saying there’s nothing you can do, there’s always things you can do, situations to stop things happening earlier in the process.
“But, unfortunately the feeling we’ve got right now is that we’ve been in this position before and it’s something we’ll address, we’ll look at it.
“The other side to that is if we had scored in the last minute and got a point, the feeling that comes with that.
“So I have to be careful as the players are very low because of the manner of losing that goal in the last minute.
“But there is accountability across the board to make sure we learn from the experience and try to get better from it.”
Dundee boss Steven Pressley could not be prouder of his players after they battled back to secure a point.
He said: “I thought for 80 minutes we were terrific. Great credit to David Gray, who made some really positive changes. The changes spooked us a little bit.
“We’d shown great composure with the ball for 80 minutes and then we just lost our way a little bit.
“Losing the two goals, I think it’s easy for a team to go under but we responded again in amazing fashion.
“It said a lot about the group and the spirit that after that setback we managed to salvage a point so I couldn’t be prouder.”
