Inverness moved three points clear at the top of Scottish League One as Mitchell Robertson’s early goal was enough for a 1-0 win over Cove Rangers.
Robertson turned in Joe Chalmers’ corner via the crossbar in the 18th minute, pushing Inverness further clear as Stenhousemuir needed two late goals to salvage a 2-2 draw with Kelty Hearts and dropped to third as a result.
Ricco Diack scored in either half for Kelty but Matty Aitken and Scott McGill struck in the last six minutes to salvage a point for Stenhousemuir.
That allowed Alloa to go second with a 4-0 win at Montrose. The visitors took the lead via captain Scott Taggart’s penalty with 30 minutes gone after Andy Steeves handled the ball.
It stayed 1-0 until the 70th minute when the outstanding Callum Burnside scored his first goal in Alloa colours and two minutes later Stefan Scougall effectively killed the contest.
Lewis Stewart then added a fourth late on, also scoring his first goal for the club.
Queen of the South are fourth after a 3-0 win at home to East Fife while Hamilton beat Peterhead by the same scoreline with Oli Shaw bagging a brace.

Mackenzie Lemon fired the hosts into an 18th-minute lead and Spartans needed a well-taken 48th minute equaliser from Cammy Russell to earn a point.
That allowed second-placed East Kilbride to cut the deficit with a 2-0 win over Stirling Albion.
John Robertson opened the scoring in the 18th minute but then missed a penalty early in the second half, meaning the hosts had to wait until the 88th minute for Connor Young to make sure of the win.
Albion’s misery was completed by a late red card for Calum Crane for a late challenge.
East Kilbride edged three points above third-placed Clyde, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Stranraer.
A fine strike from Tony Wallace sealed a 2-1 Dumbarton win over Annan Athletic.
A deflected effort from Leighton McIntosh had put Dumbarton in front before Josh Dixon brought Annan level early in the second half.
