Leo Castledine’s spectacular strike earned Huddersfield a 1-0 win at Exeter in League One.
After Josh Magennis had missed a glorious chance to put Exeter in front, slotting wide of a post from seven yards, Castledine scored the only goal of the game after 28 minutes.
The on-loan Chelsea man cut in from the left and curled a stunning effort into the far top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Alfie May fired over as Huddersfield took control after Exeter’s bright start, although the home side thought they had equalised on the stroke of half-time when Pierce Sweeney’s header hit the bar and Jack Fitzwater nodded in the rebound, but the goal was disallowed.
Ryan Ledson’s cross came back off a post for Town, while Lee Nicholls made a great one-handed save to keep out Reece Cole’s thumping volley at the other end.
The Terriers passed up a host of chances to put the game to bed.
Ben Wiles was off target with a free header, May saw a shot clip the top of the bar and Joe Taylor fired wide, but in the end one goal proved enough.
