Two goals from Nnamdi Ofoborh and one from Lee Ndlovu helped Barnet to seal a 3-0 win over Grimsby, the Bees’ first at home in Sky Bet League Two this season.
Barnet started strongly, playing with intensity and creating early chances, but could not break down a resolute Grimsby backline in the opening stages.
Their first effort on target came when Ndlovu’s low drive from distance was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Christy Pym.
At the other end, Jamie Walker and Charles Vernam squandered two good chances for the visitors, both firing over the crossbar.
The Bees took the lead in the 42nd minute through Ofoborh, who met Mark Shelton’s corner and unleashed a shot that flew into the back of the net.
The hosts extended their lead in the 65th minute when Idris Kanu capitalised on a defensive lapse to burst through and square for Ndlovu, who tapped into an empty net.
Ofoborh claimed his second of the game three minutes later, curling in a sublime strike at the near post.
