Grace Clinton in contention to make Man City debut in WSL clash with Tottenham

England midfielder Grace Clinton could make her Manchester City debut as Andree Jeglertz’s side travel to Tottenham in the Women’s Super League on Friday.

The Euro 2025 winner joined City from rivals Manchester United earlier this month but is yet to feature for her new club due to injury.

That could change as City face another of her former clubs – the 22-year-old had a loan spell with Spurs during the 2023-24 season – at Brisbane Road.

City manager Jeglertz said: “Grace has been training fully with the team this week. Friday is the last session, so we’ll see how that goes, but she’s definitely on her way.”

Germany midfielder Sydney Lohmann is also making progress in her recovery from a leg injury, but this week’s game comes too soon.

City, beaten by Chelsea in their WSP opener, secured their first win of the campaign as they beat Brighton last week.

Spurs still boast a 100 per cent record and Jeglertz has warned his players will need to deal with the hosts’ initial enthusiasm.

The former Denmark coach said: “I think for all teams, there is something in the mentality that they want to show us that this is their home ground.

“At the start we’ll always expect them to come out on the front foot, but after a while, if we manage that part, we can take control and see an opportunity if they put high pressure on us.”

In Friday’s other match, newly-promoted London City Lionesses travel to Everton seeking their first points of the season after heavy defeats in their opening two fixtures.

It will be Everton’s first outing under the floodlights at Goodison Park.
