Strong first-half show sets up Boreham Wood for victory over Altrincham

Boreham Wood continued their impressive form in the Enterprise National League, extending their unbeaten run to seven games with a 3-1 win at home to Altrincham.

The hosts scored all their goals in the first half, taking control of the contest at Meadow Park.

Erico Sousa opened the scoring in the 18th minute after good work from Zak Brunt.

Sousa doubled the hosts’ lead 10 minutes later and it was 3-0 to the hosts just before the interval when Brunt converted a penalty awarded after Abdul Abdulmalik had been fouled.

The visitors were given hope in the 59th minute when Jimmy Knowles pulled a goal back from 20 yards.

However, there was to be no comeback and a bad day for the visitors was capped in added time when winger Lucas Weaver was sent off for fouling Brunt.
