Morecambe secured a vital three points in their quest for League Two safety with a 2-0 victory over Lancashire rivals Accrington at the Mazuma Stadium.
Second-half goals from Lee Angol and Ged Garner gave the home side a much-needed win as they closed the gap at the bottom of the table.
Angol gave the Shrimps the lead in the 54th minute when he took advantage of some poor Accrington defending to head Luke Hendrie’s deep cross past goalkeeper Billy Crellin from close range.
Morecambe added a second two minutes from time when substitute Garner volleyed a Yann Songo’o cross past Crellin from six yards.
Both sides forged openings in the first half, with Andy Dallas testing Crellin after only three minutes and Accrington wasting a golden chance when Tyler Walton was played in on goal but he was denied by an excellent save from Ryan Schofield.
Walton went close again in the 22nd minute with a far-post volley that hit the top of the crossbar.
