Birmingham quick off the mark to beat Lincoln and reach FA Cup fourth round

Birmingham made history in their 2-1 win over League One rivals Lincoln in the FA Cup third round.

Winger Ayumu Yokoyama scored their quickest-ever FA Cup goal, netting after just 35 seconds when he converted Scott Wright’s cross.

The Japanese winger neatly controlled after Tendayi Darikwa missed the delivery and poked through ex-Birmingham goalkeeper Zach Jeacock’s legs.

Lincoln, whose record FA Cup run is the quarter-finals in 2016-17, wasted three first-half chances.

Jack Moylan volleyed well wide, Bailey Cadamarteri lost control of the ball in a one-on-one and then the unmarked Cadamarteri volleyed wide from 12 yards.

Prior to that, Jeacock tipped over Lukas Jutkiewicz’s powerful header.

Lyndon Dykes clinched Blues’ place in the fourth round with a brilliant goal in the 79th minute.

He lobbed a defender, chested the ball down then lobbed Jeacock on the volley from the edge of the box.

Lincoln’s Jovon Makama pulled one back from the spot in the 91st minute after substitute Alfie Chang brought down Lewis Montsma.
