LIMERICK played host to the Martial Arts ITO International Championships which took place in the Strand Hotel last weekend.
The event saw Tang Soo Do competitors from all over the world attended the event with hundreds of international visitors from the USA who had and travelled from New York, Boston, Philadelphia as well as teams from Northern Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, Belgium, Holland and competitors from around Ireland.
Local and Munster competitors won over 70 medals at the event itself.
The event was organised by Master Pat Forde from Limerick who is the Irish Chief Tang Soo Do instructor for the Intercontinental Tang Soo Do Organisation(ITO).
Master Forde locally runs Munster Martial Arts and local students relished the opportunity to compete in a prestigious international event at home in Limerick.
Speaking about the event Master Forde went on to say "I am a very proud Limerick man and to run an event like this in our city gives me an enormous sense of pride.
"In terms of Limerick competitors we came away with loads of medals and our students were hugely successful in the competition. My students have the guts of 400 International medals in Tang Soo Do over the last number of years. I am extremely proud of how well they competed."
