TREATY United face a quick turnaround as the side returns to action tonight, Monday, for a crucial rearranged fixture with second-placed Waterford FC in the SSE Airtricity League First Division at the Markets Field, 7.45pm kick-off.

Treaty United are currently in seventh place in the First Division table, five points off the final promotion play-off place which is occupied by Wexford FC.

Visitors Waterford FC sit in a lofty second place in the table with just four defeats from their 27 league games this season.

Treaty head into tonight's fixture on the back of a crucial 3-1 victory over Kerry FC at the Markets Field on Friday night. It was Treaty's 100th fixture in League of Ireland football.

Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett said of their latest Munster derby tonight.

“It (Waterford) will be a tough game. They’re a tough team, they’ve got very good attacking players, they’re good defensively, they’re good all over the park," Tommy Barrett said.

“It’s going to be a real tough night for us, but we have to hope we can get at least a draw or a win.”

Friday night's game against kerry FC saw a first start for Treaty Utd defender Robbie Lynch at this level.

Barrett said: “Robbie started his first game for us, he did really well for a young lad that hasn’t played right back before.
“He was a bit nervy in the first half I thought but grew into the game. He’s a real good footballer. I’ve high hopes for him.
“That block (on Sean McGrath in the 51st minute) just typifies him he’s a proper defender,” Manager Barrett added.

The Treaty United result against Kerry FC on Friday impressed manager Tommy Barrett, but not the performance.

“Good win. That’s about it, we weren’t at our best tonight but good result,” said Barrett.
